The aim of the investment is to optimise the supply of spare parts to the 17 European MULTIVAC subsidiaries by implementing a centralised handling process. The supply of materials for machine production in Wolfertschwenden will also benefit from the new procedures.
"In future, we will be working with modern warehouse technology. An automatic small-parts warehouse and semi-automated high-rack stackers will help us to significantly increase today's order picking capacity, while at the same time reducing susceptibility to errors. All in all, we will be able to design our processes more efficiently thanks to the latest technology," explains Volker Starrach, Senior Director of Logistics at MULTIVAC. "Our customers will benefit essentially from better availability of spare parts and therefore shorter delivery times. In addition to this, errors in the individual process stages can be prevented or reduced."
